Sunrise on a chilly Apri morning

It's a lovely spring morning. The frost is slowly melting from the car roof. It's damn chilly out there just now, but just look at the sky. Another beautiful day is coming. Might even crack 20c in our garden.

So today I am back to Soho to record a VO, start a new edit of my reel for my new high res' channel on youtube and then go chilling in the sun with a pal. I'm quite looking forward to it.

I'm employing the wife today too, to do what she loves to do best, to go shopping. We need a chocolate fountain, a bowl of strawberries and a few bottles of fizz. Sounds like a party, but its for a shoot...honest.

In the garden this weekend I'm going to shoot lovely slo mo close ups of the choc fountain, the kids delight at it and we need a few corks popping and strawberries in there for good measure. What a life!

and now...

I am up for a commercial that shoots in the UK, followed by China, India and Sarajevo.

Could be very much good. Find out soon I hope.

Today I was passing the soho doorways again and it felt rather good to be back there. I wrote loads of stuff, fixed a few edits, met a few clients and an old pal at lunchtime. The sun shone and when I got home there was fun in the garden with the little dudes followed by baths, and stories.

So now I have a minute I thought it would be worth filling a few moments of my day with a little blog action.

Bring it on.

Things are looking so much better than last time!

I mean it. Compared to January, life is bloody fabulous.

This is Harrison. He's gorgeous.

Work is good. My boys are well. My wife is still gorgeous and I'm still here. Fuck me. That was close!

This is a shot of my boy Luca and my wife. They're gorgeous.

My house is for sale. I just met an old friend from school days, and we got on bloody well. (you never know how it will go with old schoolies!)

I've been in Dubai shooting. Off to the USA (atlanta and DC) to shoot more and back to Dubai and then some stuff in London, so work is rockin.

This is a good day!

Hope you're having one too, and if you're not, hang in there. Time brings all things. Good and crap, so chances are the good will be coming.

Puppies and Punishment.

You know its a funny thing that life has a way of throwing up an incredible array of experiences. Some good, some, well awful.

I bought the family a puppy two weeks ago. He's a beautiful little Cocker Spaniel, called Harley. My missis chose him from a litter for his gentle nature and 'couthie' way he snuggles right into your arm or the crook of your neck. She was right. He's just lovely.

At the same time we learned someone we love dearly has cancer.

And then there's the neighbor who set his garage alight while he was fixing his car and we had to evacuate the house because he had a canister of oxyacetaline gas in there. If it had gone up, my house would have been flattened!

My young boys are now well again, after catching the winter vomiting bug and my wife is close to the edge but still holding up under the strain.

Then there's me. I'm not even going there.

Life. Fuck me. Its a varied mix of shizenhauser at the best of times and plain shit the rest!

Oh My God. Where have I been?

Well I've been just about everywhere but online.

I've also been busier than a busy thing at busy times. From one side of the USA to another five different times and then there's the small matter of two young boys who need constant attention!

Enough excuses! I'm back and I'll keep it going much more regularly from now on....but first - breakfast!

Later!

Real Fear!

So we took 30 students to an ancient castle. They were spooked for a few hours by ghost tours, and gentle persuasion that the place was haunted.

Meanwhile we rigged a banqueting hall with remote controlled hidden infra red cameras. The students were given a Wii remote to have a go at a new game. The lights went out, interference appeared on screen, strange sounds and then finally a grisly demon practically leaped out the screen at them.

Some of them were non-plussed, but 75% of them jumped around 6-12 inches out of their seat!

Properly spooked, the footage is real. No acting, no set up.

I think it might be a rather massive success!

I'll post it when its cut.

The Horrible Hidden Truth.

Next week me and some old friends and some new head off to the north country to make a TV commercial.

This is going to be the kind of TV commercial that either smashes all known sales records or sinks like a water balloon tossed from the cocktail bar on the roof of the Penninsula Hotel on 5th!

For the first time in my career I'm making a proper broadcast TV commercial with no crew. I have no Director of Photography to ensure things are going to turn out gorgeous, I have no gaffer and spark to light the location, no assistant director, no make up artists to pretty the actors, I don't even have any bloody actors!

Intrigued? I am. I've got to tell you, whatever happens its going to be fascinating.

I'll tell you all about it but of course I cant tell you anything just now. I will say it involves 'competition' winners, a 900 year old castle and a bucket of blood.

So just a normal Wednesday evening then. I'll be writing an update and I'll give away all the secrets next week, provided I make it home in one piece.
